Privacy Policy
Habteab Academy Plus is an English-learning app for Tigrinya speakers, published by Habteab Academy, Kampala, Uganda. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and how to have it deleted. The app is intended for people aged 13 and over.
What we collect
- An account identifier. The app creates an anonymous account the first time it runs, so your lessons and progress are saved. No name or email is needed for this.
- Your name, email address and profile picture — only if you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, so your progress can follow you to another device.
- Learning activity. Lessons watched, exam and game scores, XP, streaks and hearts.
- Device and app identifiers. An advertising identifier used to show ads, a Google Play Integrity attestation used to confirm requests come from the real app, and anonymous analytics identifiers used to understand which lessons are working.
We do not collect your contacts, photos, files, location, microphone or camera. The app requests only internet and network-state permissions.
Advertising
The app is free and funded by ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use an advertising identifier to select ads and to limit how often the same ad is shown. Where the law requires it, the app asks for your consent before any personalised advertising, and you can change that choice at any time from the Profile screen. Ad content is limited to the general audience (G) rating. Google's handling of this data is described in the Google Privacy & Terms.
How the information is used
- To run the app: saving progress, grading exams, awarding hearts and XP, and playing lesson videos.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse of the reward system.
- To understand, in aggregate, which lessons and games are used, so the course can be improved.
- To show ads, as described above.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles of our own.
Who it is shared with
Data is processed on our behalf by Google (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, App Check and Analytics) and by Cloudflare, which delivers the lesson videos. Ads are served by Google AdMob. We do not share your information with anyone else except where the law requires it.
Storage and security
All data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored in Google Cloud data centres in Europe. Access is restricted to the app's operators.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account and everything stored with it from inside the app: Profile → Delete account. This removes your progress, scores and any name or email held for you. You can also write to the address below and ask us to do it for you.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and it asks for a date of birth before use. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top.
